JUDICIAL BASILICA
Judicial basilica in Tipasa, where you can discover the remains of the curia, the seat of the city's municipal council..
Excavated between 1914 and 1917, the judicial basilica served as both a chamber of commerce and a stock exchange. The discovery of the Captives mosaic, on display at the Tipasa Museum and dating from the 1st or 2nd century A.D., suggests that it also served as a court. Its dais, where justice was dispensed, is elevated by five steps. Behind the monument, you can see the perfect paving of the forum, the heart of the city, and the remains of the curia, the seat of the city's municipal council. On the east side, the remains of a monumental staircase can be admired.
