THEATRE
This historic theater is a landmark in Tipasa, overlooking the beach and coves.
To descend to the West Gate, the path runs alongside the surrounding wall. We notice the remains of a swimming pool before discovering the theater, built not on a hillside as was the case in the past, but on flat ground. You can see the pillars that still support it, as well as three rows of tiers, the orchestra and the vaults. The building could accommodate around 3,000 spectators and was accessed via four external staircases. In 1847, its masonry was used to build a hospital, damaging the site.
