TENES DOOR
This gateway to the west of Cherchell is a jewel of Algerian architecture and civilization.
Located to the west of the city, at the end of Rue Abdelhak (ex-Césarée), on the Tipaza bypass, the Porte de Tenes, also known as the Porte de l'Ouest, is an architectural gem. It was one of the city's entrance gates, along with the Portes d'Alger (east) and the Portes de Miliana (south). Unfortunately, the monument is not very well maintained and is beginning to deteriorate. It is currently in the middle of a busy traffic zone, comparable to certain parts of Paris. We recommend that you exercise caution during your visit.
