From Pacung, you can take a 6 km detour to the right to go to Apuan, village of the famous contemporary painter Made Wianta. The temple of Apuan has the particularity of honouring, every two years of the Balinese calendar, that is, every 14 months, the exceptional meeting of about fifty barongs (hairy monster associated with a dog-dog) brothers who all come in procession with their fifty Rangda (witch). Seeing these barongs beside others in the temple, attending this strange ceremony with processions and offerings from all parts of Bali gives vertigo.
