This temple is one of six Bali axial temples (sad kahyangan). The central courtyard consists of two grands, extending in length and the inner courtyard three meru roofs with three, five and seven storeys. The most important sanctuary with its seven-storey meru is dedicated to Mahadewa, the god of the Batukau who represents the west. The environment is fabulous: flowers abound, hibiscus and cempaka, camboja and ixora, temples of temples crushed under green mosses and lichens that invaded brick. Here you are in nature, far from the tourist noise, in an enchanting place where birds come from. The temple dates from the th century and was dedicated to its construction to the king of Tabanan. Despite the destruction of the temple by Panji Sakti of Buléléng in 1604, the faithful returned to the ruins until his restoration in 1959! The temple is sacred, which means you will have to wear the sarong and a wrap around the waist. A little to the east of it, a small basin with a small island in the middle symbolizes the Mahameru, the sacred mountain of Hinduism.
