Automated lighthouse of 75 metres high, with 52 windows and 356 steps at Gatteville-le-Phare.

75 metres high, 356 steps, 7,400 tons of granite... Don’t hesitate: try to climb this Cotentin watchtower. From level to level, the 52 windows give you a special light, offering you little by little a breathtaking view of the land and above the sea. Every year, 30,000 brave souls set out to climb the site. Since 1984, the lighthouse has been automated. In stormy weather or when the wind blows at 50 km/h, the lighthouse is closed, which is normal given the altitude. The access to the lighthouse is not free, but the price is definitely modest.

Hyper sympa à faire en famille. La montée peut paraître ardue mais c'est faisable avec des enfants (ma dernière à 4 ans). En revanche si vous avez le vertige passez votre chemin. Très belle vue en haut... s'il fait beau :)

Magnificent, I had the opportunity to make it weather and low tide, the view is exceptional, 325 steps (numbered all 50 times that you would have forgotten allow and that you would despair to arrive in top!). Upstairs, a first platform then a last metal staircase to the last platform where is lentils, station with vertigo. Children beloved even the small 3 years. It is also 2nd 12 years. The only drawback, the history of the lighthouse, very light, photocopying high and lots of text into small not want to reading.
