Oomingmak is a cooperative of 250 Native women from remote Alaskan coastal villages that offers items made from Qiviut (pronounced KIV-EE-UTE), the soft, fluffy underwool of the muskox, eight times warmer than sheep's wool and very light. Best of all, Qiviut does not itch or shrink in the wash. Hats, scarves, headbands, shawls... All items are hand-knitted since 1969. Each village has a special pattern from the Eskimo culture. Stop by at least once to discover the know-how of weaving.
