THE ALASKA ZOO
Anchorage Zoo with about 100 animals and some exotic animals hosting outdoor concerts
The Anchorage Zoo is not among the most beautiful zoos in the United States, but its history makes it endearing. It was born in 1970 at the initiative of an association that took in injured animals. Today, it has kept this noble mission. There are about a hundred animals, mainly from Alaska: bear, elk, caribou, musk ox, seal, sea lion. Some "exotic" animals such as camels from the Gobi desert, snow leopards or yaks from Tibet are among the animals. In summer, open-air concerts are organized.
