EARTHQUAKE PARK
Anchorage Earthquake Park, with remnants of famous earthquakes, offering a bike path
This park gives visitors the opportunity to see the remains of the famous 1964 earthquake. At a magnitude of 9.2, it was the largest earthquake ever recorded in North America. Its geological impacts, such as a steep waterfall north of the park and rolling hills in the forest, can still be seen today. A bike trail can be ridden along the coast from Anchorage to this fairly deserted park. Note that the beach along the trail is marked with "quicksand" signs, so do not venture out.
