Coastal glacier in Valdez considered one of the main attractions of the boat trips
From the Chugach Mountains to Prince William Sound, it extends for nearly 51 km. An important witness to climate change, it is one of the fastest melting glaciers on the planet, shrinking 0.6 km per year since 1982. Its melting has slowed down since the 2000s, but scientists predict that it will not stop retreating until 2030. For the moment, the glacier is one of the main attractions of the boat trips from Valdez and we still see the ice falls.
