OLD RUSSIAN CHURCH
Small Russian church on the National Register of Historic Places, behind the Village Cache, with golden domes
Without a doubt, the most important building to see in Ninilchik is the Chapel of the Holy Transfiguration of our Lord. Built in 1901, the "Chapel of the Holy Transfiguration of our Lord" is one of the most famous of the 23 Orthodox churches listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Accessible by a path behind the Village Cache, this small green-roofed church watches over the white crosses of a very old Orthodox cemetery. And these five golden onion domes are an artistic testament to Russian civilization in the 18th and 19th centuries.
