GRANVILLE LIGHTHOUSE
Go there and contact
This lighthouse, situated on a majestic promontory overlooking the sea, watches over the entrance to the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo.
To see it up close, you have to climb up to Cap Lihou, an Anglo-Saxon term which means a promontory dominating the sea, it couldn’t be more explicit. If the lighthouse is not very high, 16 meters, it dominates the sea of 52 meters. Its granite tower from Chausey was built in 1827 and it has been electrified since 1924. The lighthouse, radio-controlled from Chausey, beacons the entrance to the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo on a range of 43 meters. The building, which can only be visited during the Heritage Days, is listed as a Historic Monument.
