GARE ROUTIÈRE
Turku's bus station, located in the city's VI district, is a functionalist-style building designed by architects Harald Smedberg and Totti Sora. Built in 1938, it features a waiting room, station office, ticket office, restaurant and storage area on the first floor. The building has undergone several renovations over the years, most notably in 1994, when the restaurant was converted into a bar. Close to the bus station are two former service stations built in the same architectural style. There are plans to create a travel center linking trains and buses to replace the current bus station. The bus station building is protected as a built cultural environment of national importance.
