MARIGNY GERMAN MILITARY CEMETERY
Marigny Military Cemetery, where German soldiers are buried, is considered an impressive site in Thèreval.
As early as 1944, German and Allied soldiers were buried in the cemetery, but in 1945 and 1946, the American authorities transferred the American bodies to the Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer cemetery in Calvados, while in 1957, the German government gathered here the bodies initially buried in other small cemeteries. Eleven thousand German soldiers are buried in the military cemetery at La Chapelle-en-Juger, whose size and maintenance make it an impressive site.
