Restaurant 't Schrijverke is located in the historic heart of Bruges, in the shadow of the Church of Our Lady. Founded in 1970 by the Couckuyt family, it was taken over in 1990 by their children Patriek and Linda. Since 2018, the third generation has been represented by Simon Couckuyt, who is the head chef. The restaurant offers contemporary cuisine with a regional touch, and the menu is also enriched with seasonal suggestions. The restaurant does not offer takeaway or delivery. In fine weather, you can enjoy a regional beer, coffee or delicious waffle on the terrace.

My friend and I sat down and ordered a pastry and a drink (just a snack to start the day, there was no one else in the shop and we were not difficult), and the waiter snapped “that’s it?” And stormed off. I thought it may have been a joke because I was so shocked at first but quickly realized from his nasty expression that it was not. Two locals came in soon after and ordered only two espressos which was seemingly not an issue.
