SAINT-ANNE'S CHURCH
St. Anne's Church in sober brick, Renaissance style, revealing a bonbonnière interior with rococo furnishings.
The exterior of St. Anne's Church is a sober brick structure. Rebuilt on the ruins of the Gothic church sacked by 16th-century iconoclasts (1581), its construction was delayed by the creation of the second city wall on this site. Inaugurated in 1624, the Renaissance-style church reveals a rococo interior: marble rood screen, elaborate furnishings, multiple works of art, including Hendrik Herregouts' immense Last Judgment , 100m2 of paint! The nave is covered with late 17th-century woodwork.
