SINT-JANSHUIS MILL
Sint-Janshuis mill for grinding grain, built in 1770 and located in Bruges.
From the end of the 13th to the 19th century, the outer city wall was home to numerous mills. Today, only four remain, spreading their wings along the Kruisvest. Two mills still grind grain in their original locations: the Koelewei and, next door, the Sint-Janshuismolen, built in 1770 by a group of bakers. The mill is open to the public. Today, the millers welcome visitors to show them the mill mechanism in action when the wind is strong enough.
