PROVINCIAL PALACE
Provincial Palace in Bruges, a ceremonial and exhibition building, currently under renovation.
Originally, the Grand-Place was occupied by a warehouse for ships, the Waterhalle, which was demolished in 1797 to make way for the first Provincial Court building. After the latter was destroyed by fire in 1878, this impressive neo-Gothic building was erected between 1887 and 1921. Until 1999, it was the seat of the Provincial Council of West Flanders. Now a ceremonial and exhibition building, it has just been completely renovated and transformed into the Province's open house, and has been open since the end of 2024.
