This medieval gate in Bruges is renowned for its robust appearance, reflecting its defensive function.

One of the 4 gates of medieval Bruges, its robust appearance bears witness to its defensive function. Outside, 2 Romanesque cylindrical towers with loopholes and heavy doors frame a small passageway. Inside: 2 pointed bell towers, a flat facade adorned with a sculpture of Saint Adrian, the town's protector against the plague. A compulsory passage for foreigners arriving in town, the gate was also used for importing and exporting goods.

Une des belles portes de Bruges qui nous plonge dans l'histoire médiévale. Cette porte est située dans un très beau parc, un endroit idéal pour la marche et la détente. Un beau monument.
