POORTERSLOGE
The Bourgeois Lodge built between 1395 and 1417 houses a contemporary art museum, offering a double historical visit.
The Bourgeois Lodge(Poortersloge), built between 1395 and 1417, served as a meeting place for the bourgeois society of the White Bear. Here, they received foreign merchants to discuss business. From the tower, they could watch ships loading and unloading their wares in the nearby warehouses. After becoming the city's Academy of Arts from 1720 to 1890, and then a state archive from 1912 to 2012, the building has now been returned to its artistic function as a museum of contemporary art. A double visit, historic and contemporary.
