Family brewery, presenting the beer making process, in brewing rooms, with brews.

This family brewery, first mentioned in 1546, has been carrying on the long brewing tradition of Bruges for more than six generations. It is known for its Brugse Zot, a tasty top-fermented lager made from malt, hops and yeast, for which it has won several awards, but also for its beer pipeline that connects it to its bottling site! There is also the stronger Straffe Hendrik (triple at 9° and quadruple at 11°), also very authentic and produced entirely on the spot.

The visit is done in groups and lasts about one hour. The entire beer making process is explained. The brewhouse was recently renovated. The brewing and fermentation are still done on the spot, which makes the establishment the last real brewery in the heart of Bruges. The visit ends of course with a tasting. In addition to the production facilities (everything is produced on site), there is a tavern and a restaurant where you can taste many beers around regional dishes and following a market cuisine of fresh, local and seasonal products and beer specialties (such as pork cheeks with Brugse Zot Double), around a nice fire in winter at lunch time. Everything is homemade, the menu changes every month. The terrace offers a relaxing break on sunny days, the beautiful panoramic view of Bruges from the3rd floor and the store are additional reasons not to miss this authentic visit.
