House of Waffles revisits the Brussels (square) and Liège (round) waffles. Its secret: incredible lightness! At lunchtime, the chef proposes his Norwegian waffle, where airy cream flirts wonderfully with smoked salmon on a stem of chives. Or would you prefer the surprising Ham & Cheese with Bruges cheese and traditional Breydel ham? If you're more of a sweet tooth: fruit, ice cream, coulis of all kinds, it's as colorful and tasty as you could wish for. You can also compose your own waffle with toppings .

Owner's Message
Monique Van Waefelghem was born in 1929 in one of the most charming houses of Bruges. She was the last person in Bruges to use the name Van Waefelghem.
She is well known in the family, but also for her warm and charming personality. The regular parties at the house where Monique prepares and serves the best and hottest waffles imaginable are particularly famous.
Tragically, Monique passed away in 2015 after a rich and warm life, leaving fond memories for her loved ones.
In 2018, her closest family members, daughter Anne, son-in-law Dirk, and grandchildren Julie and Charles paid their final respects to their beloved "Grandma."
The four of them joined forces to renovate part of Monique's birthplace, transforming it into a "House of waffles" (Waefelghem literally means waffle house in old Dutch).
The centerpiece of the method is of course using one of "grandma's" tricks to make all the waffles so delicious by adding just the right amount of her favorite beer to the waffle mixture.
But most importantly, the family wanted to recreate the warm and welcoming feeling that every guest always feels when entering Monique's home.
In 2021, the second "House of waffles" will open its doors in Antwerp, further spreading the philosophy of Mamie, and the end of the road is still unknown.
Although "Mamie" with the surname "Van Waefelghem" passed away in 2015, her memory will live on not only in her family, but in the hearts of all waffle lovers around the world.

The waffles are made fresh in the Rolls-Royce of Belgian waffle irons and just by themselves they're already fantastic.
Topped with warm cherries in cherry sauce and whipped cream (Cherry Delight) or with salad, fried bacon and eggs sunny side up (Club BLT), smoked salmon and cream cheese (Norwegian) or with tender chicken, spices and a fried egg (Pollo Loco) they are absolutely amazing ????
