THE CASTLE OF LA HAYE
A castle dating from 1820-1830, founded on the feudal motte near the keep, consisting of cellars, halls, chambers, dungeons and prisons
Of the castle founded on the feudal mound near the keep, only a lithograph by Engelmann dating from 1820-1830 remains. This first building destroyed, a second one was erected in the 16th century, with new buildings. A description dating from the Revolution mentions cellars, rooms, chambers, dungeons and prisons. Damaged during the Second World War, the castle was renovated but some elements remain original, including the almost thousand-year-old keep. The whole complex cannot be visited, but you can admire it from the surrounding garden.
