Staff seated 2 parties behind mine while asking if I wanted to be seated separately at 2 available 2 tops and then lied to management and blamed the customer after we agreed to be seated separately. Staff gave away the seats and never came back to communicate. What’s the point in waiting in line if the establishment doesn’t respect first come first serve.
The manager was only going provide compensation to half our party as a way to be cheap but this wait was an additional 10mins to the already 25min spent line a line of 5-7 other parties. I would never come if I have things to do afterwards again as this staff ruined my experience.
Don’t think I’ll be back for a while. Hopefully some upstanding individuals will come to work here and they’re able to do something about the charge as I’d rather give my tips directly to the chefs, bussing staff, and other helpful staff member who make my experience great.
Online order with direct restaurant pick up was very easy and convenient. Ordered on Friday night and was ready in 25 min. When I arrived, the restaurant was packed with line out the door. I bypassed the line and walked right up to register to pick up my order which was stapled in a sturdy paper bag with handles. So glad I didn't have to wait in that long line.
Food: 16 piece with sea bream set menu ($19). All the fish was so fresh and delicious! I always pass on tuna due to the fishy flavor, but even I found the toro to be tasty. Crab had very strong flavor. Sea bream and salmon were also delicious. Overall I was very impressed by the fish quality and flavor.
Packaging is also thoughtful with the different slots and provides a low mess mobile eating experience.
- The warm rice and crispy nori is unbeatable.
- Good flavors and the fish tasted very fresh.
- Reasonably priced for the quality of food.
Cons:
- The atmosphere was very off-putting as someone who hates cramped spaces and bumping elbows with strangers at bar seating.
- The dim lights and candles are cozy but super impractical when it comes to trying to look at the menu without pulling out your phone.
- Very noisy.
- Bar stools.
- The fish is all finely chopped, and I would prefer my food didn't feel like it was prechewed (texture=taste).
Service: non-existent to poor. Upon seating ourselves, the server asked us if we wanted the menu. Of course we wanted the menu… after serving us the menu, I had to wait to catch her attention to get a pencil to mark the menu. Rolls also came out untimely. After the chef made our first roll, he walked back into the kitchen and didn’t come back out to start rolling the rest until 10 full minutes. Other kazunoris I have been to used a computer that would prompt them to make rolls at certain intervals. Not this time. This place is supposed to be known for their efficiency and speed. Our experience was far from that. The chef also could not tell us what he had made. With how mushy the fish was diced we also couldn’t really tell what was what since we ordered mostly white fish. Meanwhile the server and manager just chatted and giggled the entire time in the corner. We came around 5pm and were also the only customers in the restaurant aside from another table who had already finished their meal.
Atmosphere: darker than when we went a year before. Good for dates perhaps but not with friends. Definitely NOT for family, especially not Asian parents. They’ll find it a complete disappointment.
The noori paper is crunchy and the mix of the hot rice with the cold fresh fish in the handrolls is absolutely amazing. Its my favorite place to come.
You also always get a very fresh handroll by getting it each time its your turn. Even if its full it doesnt take long, ans waiting for your handrolls makes you enjoy them more.
You pay around 30$ for your handrolls without the drink, and the tip is added in the bill. Its pricey if you are used to eating a lot, but when you are fine with 5 high quality rolls then you will leave very happy and the price is worth it ????
It's very fresh, portions are a little small but I definitely would go back. They keep their menu pretty simple but I appreciate that!
You really savor very bite!
