The general opinion of the Angelenos (and ours as well) is that Thai Town's Thai restaurants are frankly mediocre. That's probably why Night + Market Song, this small ultra trendy restaurant located on Sunset Boulevard run by Kris Yenbamroong, is a real hit. This young film graduate chef has no culinary training other than growing up in a family of Thai restaurateurs in L.A. The whimsical, colourful and trendy decoration is the ideal setting to uncork a Thai beer before an evening in the neighbourhood's bars! Surprisingly cheap, Night + Market Song offers an authentic cuisine, with sharp and fresh flavours. Try coconut rice, a sticky rice cooked in coconut milk, and, at lunch, Thai Boxing Chicken, a barbecue chicken traditionally served around Bangkok's boxing rings by street vendors.

This is a place I crave often and dream about. Love the food, natural wine, the people that work here, and the vibe.

Food was ok, server was a bit rude.

There’s paid meter street parking on Sunset. The meters stop at 8 PM.

THE DISAPPOINTMENT
they charge $10 per person if you bring your own cake to celebrate a birthday dinner. I’ve never heard this in my entire life especially the per person charge. So disappointing that we couldn’t celebrate a special birthday here.

THE SERVICE
I feel it could’ve been better with a little bit more empathy and meaningful customer service. A particular server just didn’t care by the word choices used.

THE FOOD
Great food the pork belly was amazing, brussels sprouts, shrimp pad thai, Nam khao Tod, panang, and pad see ew gai.

THE AMBIENCE
lights were very low dimmed during the night pack spot, clean bathrooms, and a very hipster vibe

Overall, the food was awesome but the service and that excessive birthday charge, took it over the top and ruined the mood for our entire party.

What can you say? It was such a fun time, service was quick and knowledgeable. Food came out fast and was SOO GOOD, im still thinking about it. Definitely get the crispy rice dish (i forgot the name). Had the special for Lunar New Year. I wish the bathrooms were a bit cleaner but thats life. If i was closer id go back today!

Food was good but a bit too spicy for my tolerance, employees were nice but seemed understaffed or didn't check in as often as I'm used to - we had to flag them down a couple times. There was definitely an atmosphere but it was a bit too dim/loungey for a restaurant kind of setting. The tables were all a little too close together/too many for the space and my friend was hitting the bead curtain we were sat next to lol
