Surprisingly authentic French fare in the middle of Los Angeles. Owners are French — I felt like I was back in Paris.

It is a beautiful and familiar place, I love it, I think that despite the weather this place makes you feel at home, the staff that served us was extremely friendly and attentive and without hesitation they made us feel comfortable. We are fascinated by this place because of the service and because the Age is just a number, the older person who welcomed us and said goodbye makes us feel special, 2 months ago to the date we have been here, today, Sunday in April, a special day of my birthday, I am very happy because it made my day special.

Great restaurant with a lot of sitting outdoors, and also, they have a fabulous store for food and kitchenware. Good wine selectio. The quiche was delicious and so was the maraguez plate.

It was easy to get what I wanted at this place. I was very happy to have all items that I bought such as French fresh cheese. Italian honey, and cookies.

I was made to feel pretty unwelcome here. I’ve been shopping in the market for a while and always had a good experience but left the restaurant feeling pretty defeated. The server was very inattentive (maybe because I was a party of one?) but I was still spending money. He was also very chatty with other patrons, which had me feeling pretty bad about myself. I had two drinks and the French onion soup and I wanted to spend a little more time and order something else but I was handed the bill as soon as I finished my soup. Uncalled for.

Still good stuff inside. Charcuterie boards are the best.

This was a very good experience for my partner na do. We are not French food experts but I will say the food was quite authentic and would recommend their fish dishes the most. I had salmon over cream sauce, accompanied by squash with tomatoes and snow peas. Everything was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is great and service was among the kindest I can recall. I will recommend this place to friends and family. Any comments on parking are beyond the control of this restaurant. It’s in busy location but you know that going in. The onion soup was also very good but one serving was easy shared with two people.

The mid-50s guy with short white hair and glasses who works here is incredibly rude. Racist pretty much. While we were browsing the sauces, he yelled at us, and since then, he has been following us, watching our every move. It’s both creepy and extremely rude. Additionally, this store is excessively overpriced.

So much cheese and so little time. Many other international packaged items to purchase, even a couple gluten free ones.

Very good French food. Great location in the farmers market. Very consistently good over many visits.

I had a strange experience here... I felt like only Asians were gathered in one place among the many restaurant customers. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but there were only Asians sitting around me. Is this part of the world where tables are assigned separately for whites and Asians?

Coolest store in Original Farmers Market! A foodies dream!
PRO:
- What a selection!
- Beautiful produce
- Cool gadgets
- Great place to look for a gift
- A foodies dream!
CON:
- Parking is the worst, so much time circling while the time is ticking down.
- Validated parking for some food places, only an hour from when you get there
- Expensive parking otherwise
SUMMARY:
I'd like to spend the majority of time at the market here but again ... that parking.

Been coming here for decades and have lived next door for the last 9 years, both the market and restauraunt. I could go on about the food and the selection in the market, and I will. But what really makes this place is the people. The staff is always so warm, professional and on point. I've never dined or shopped here and been disappointed. The staple items such as the beef bourguignon and escargot are flawless, as are their frequent specials like the whole branzino and the calamari Provencal. Two of my favorites. The nicois salad, available with seared ahi or chunk white, is always fresh and simple, as it is meant to be. I buy the anchovies for use at home. The seafood tier is always fresh and delicious. The cheese counter is my favorite in the city, and the staff knows their products. I describe the flavor and usually avoid cow milk fue to lactose intolerance, and their cow alternstive cheese never disappoints. An anchor tennant of The Farmers Market, this place brings the authenticity of Paris to LA in a sexy little alfresco sit down package. The gourmet market is always fun as well, for staple items, the divine cheese counter I described above, the adjacent fish market (and fish counter!), unique delicacies and liquors, and of course, the amazing to order sandwiches and home made deserts, including an intense selection of French macaroons. Highly recommend.

Ou comment trouver une délicieuse fondue savoyarde à 9000 km de la France, à 44 dollars pour 2, et il y en a largement assez. Personnel très sympa avec décor franchouillard bien sûr !

A real French bistro. We’re French and can vouch for the place: the quiche Lorraine was good, steak tartare was a little too spicy for us but good too and salade de chèvre chaud was delicious. Service was excellent; but a little slow (the exact same pace you’d get in Paris ;) ). 5/5 will go back.

Great store, but maybe don’t ask people to wait an hour for a large party and then do absolutely nothing to prep seating for all of that time. Not only are we hungry, but have been told to wait another 39 minutes.
Next time tell the large party they can’t be seated so they don’t end up both hungry AND angry.
The party and I watched as multiple opportunities presented themselves to address seating but turnover appears to have been more valuable.
I hope those turnovers were worth it

Market experiences are always attractive. Monsieur Marcel's market is one of the most attractive places to eat in the market. Service is attentive and diligent although it seems always packed. We had the beouf bourguignon, onion soup, salmon Patagonia and steak frite. All of the dishes were good and tasty although not superb. They have a great variety of wines from around the world, but do taste French wines. Tables are "french size" and you have to find your way of enjoying.
Overall the experience is great and we will return.

Great choice of french and european goods. Somewhat very expensive but as a french visitor I understand that there are no other choices in order to import european products in the US. Glad to find some alsacian wine even from the town I come from! Been able to chat with a salesman who seemed very passionate and was very friendly. I always recommend this place since my first visit.
Keep up like this!

My go to favorite place for all things France.
