A wonderful stay at the Viceroy Santa Monica! Could not recommend this hotel enough. The hotel itself is beautiful, but every person we interacted with was kind and helpful. This is the only hotel I will stay at in the Santa Monica area! Thanks for a great visit

We had a broken air vent that kept us up all night. When we went to the front desk to mention it, they notified us that they were surprised since they openly knew about rooms 508 and 510 but didn't realize ours was also effected. While they offered to move us, they refused to fully comp us for the night. Pretty wild when they openly put people in rooms that they knew have issues. Ironically, we also knew the people in one of the rooms that they knowingly had issues, and they also didn't comp them. Insane to charge people for rooms that they know have issues, only to then wait to see if they complain. Note - Had a great experience previously, so could've just been the front desk person Mary or a broader management issue.

I want to say something nice about this hotel but the 7am noise (maybe 100+db) from protesters is making me crazy.

The horn is super loud and non-stop. PLEASE STAY AWAY.

The room ceiling is low, the bathroom sink is tiny, and the whole room is smelly and I have running nose once I stay here (symptom is gone once I'm outside).

While to be fair, Service is indeed nice, location is also good. But the noise and room is definitely not good.

Wow this place is really nice. The decor of the hotel is something to see, and the service is exceptional.

They underpay there employees, and at the front desk they offered me a discount for the trouble it caused me. Which was really nice. But now 1 month later still did not credited anything and also not responding to my emails anymore.

Room and the ocean views are good but the main issue is valet parking which is expensive at $60/night and resort fee which were not mentioned while booking.
I stayed for 3 nights and I was almost charged $300+ for the valet parking and resort fee which I was not aware of during booking. This additional charge was more than 1/3rd of my original booking price.
There was a major disturbance during early morning with the some workers strike which was happening literally at the entrance of the hotel

Killer hotel and amazing location. Customer service was top-notch, especially Jon at the front desk. Jon went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay.

Will be back.

incessant disruption caused by striking hotel workers every morning at 7 am. It's unacceptable that this has been going on for a year without any resolution or consideration for the guests, or citizens around the building. The noise and rudeness of the workers made it impossible to have a peaceful stay. Management needs to address this issue immediately for the sake of their guests' comfort and satisfaction. Avoid this hotel if you value your peace and quiet. Pretty pathetic, and selfish for many many reasons.

Okay I absolutely love this hotel!! For the price range, the location and service is absolutely top notch!! It's giving 5 star level. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are very very quiet and comfortable. The staff are very on top of their game and are ten steps ahead of you which is super hard to find in any industry post covid. Clean and comfy beds. Nice bathrooms and good pressure in the showers. The gym is pretty basic with one treadmill working when I visited but at least there are some dumbbells. Again, cannot say enough about the staff.

It’s a lovely hotel with nice rooms, but it is not worth staying there right now due to the union protests that happen every morning around 7am. The protests start with police sirens sounding non stop and waking everyone up at the hotel. I was told this has been going on since summer 2023!!!

Since the summer of 2023, the Viceroy has permitted protests, resulting in a daily cacophony of drums, megaphone blasts, and blaring sirens starting at 7:00 am right outside the hotel. It's bewildering how anyone can enjoy their stay here amidst such disruptions, especially when it robs them of the tranquility they seek on their vacation.

Until the Viceroy agrees to a fair contract for its workers do not stay here. We arrived yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. for a two night stay. There were multiple security guards, which was quite odd. Our room wasn’t ready, that wasn’t a problem since check in is at 3:00 p.m. We went to lunch and walked around Santa Monica. We got back to the hotel at 3:45 and our room still wasn’t ready. Reception said it could be another hour. They said it was because the hotel was very busy. But when people banging drums and blowing horns woke us up at 7:00 a.m. the next morning, I googled and found out that Unite Here is striking for fair wages for the Viceroy’s workers. The Viceroy appears to be one of only three holdouts. I wish I’d known about this prior to booking here. I think it’s unacceptable that the Viceroy would pay for security guards and give me a $150 credit for the inconvenience of the late check-in instead of paying its workers a fair wage.

The people who are working and not part of the strike are all doing an excellent job. I feel bad for them that the hotel owners don’t seem to care about the position that they are putting them in.

For me, the best feature of this hotel is its location. It is a stone's throw to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, shopping, and Venice Beach. Beach bikes are available for use. The restaurant has approachable food and an excellent waitstaff.

We were surprised with some protestors that made an attempt to be as disruptive and damaging as possible, however, this pushed the staff to go above and beyond with the care of their guests. They were exceptional in working around these individuals and providing all we need for our stay. It's a shame they were forced into dealing with people such as this, but extremely satisfied with the professionalism of the management, valet, front desk, and entire team.

Nice main hotel area with attractive pool. Great location. Rooms pretty good, bathrooms more 4 star than 5 star. Seemed expensive.

Lovely room, partially blocked views of the sea from higher floors. But there main view is a parking lot, which isn’t great.
Staff were friendly. Valet parking is good service, but super expensive at $60/night. They also whack a ‘resort fee’ of $20pppn onto the final bill, which is compulsory, so should really just be part of the room rate.
