SAGA MOTOR HOTEL
Charming hotel on historic Route 66 that has a nice little garden in the back and a pool, with free wifi
The Saga Motor Hotel is located on historic Route 66, just minutes from the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. Built in 1959 by famed architect Harold Zook, this boutique hotel stands out in the landscape with its tall palm trees and Moorish-inspired neon sign, the same one that attracted many motorists in the glory days of Route 66. In addition to the usual services, all excellent, you will find a pleasant garden and a beautiful swimming pool. Wifi and parking are free.

Since the hotel was on Colorado Blvd. I asked about the Rose Parade and learned the Rose Parade proceeded by and directly in front of the Saga each year.
Several months later I called the Saga and made reservations for three days during the Rose Parade time. When calling the hotel I got the feeling it was run by family and they made me feel like part of the family. We returned for the Rose Parade and found the hotel in great shape with attention to detail. They had munchies available to us at most hours in the lobby during our stay and the attention to guests during the parade kept the hotel organized and void of uninvited parade spectators.
The hotel is like going back in time and we love it that way. The location is good with nice neighborhoods surrounding it. The price of the Saga for the Rose Parade time was increased significantly but worth it due to its prime location and so much more.
We will be back!
