1906 LODGE
Fabulous Hispanic style hotel, near the beach, with a pleasant interior courtyard with fountain and exotic plants
The brainchild of two renowned San Diego architects, this beautiful Hispanic-style building dates back to 1906, as its name suggests. The hotel has rooms arranged around a pleasant interior courtyard, complete with a fountain and exotic plants. Every morning, a delicious breakfast is served. Menu highlights include a savory mushroom and three-cheese pie, homemade carrot cake, and maple and pecan scones. A fabulous place, just steps from the beach.

We stayed in Kate’s Garden and had ample room. The rooms were neat and had delightful charm. Every morning, breakfast downstairs was a delicious, well portioned meal (ham and cheese quiche with fruit and a salad one day; spinach omelet with lox, bagel, and fruit the next). Happy hour from 4-5 was also a great addition and featured heavy appetizers (penne pasta, pretzels, and nuts).
The location is perfect. A short drive to San Diego proper and a very short walk to downtown Coronado. We used the spa, restaurants, and beach access of the Del with no problems and would not have preferred staying there—in fact, the walk to dinner each night was no further than if we were on the hotel property.
Will absolutely stay again on the next trip to San Diego and tell everyone about it!
The facilities were well kept and clean. It is relatively quiet and a great location near the beach.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
