GOTHIC CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF CARENTAN
The monument owes its rebirth to Guillaume de Cerisay, knight, bailiff of Cotentin.
Under the English occupation, the Gothic church fell into ruin, and the monument owes its rebirth to Guillaume de Cerisay, knight, bailiff of the Cotentin. A few centuries later, in June 1944, the spire, the large west portal and the choir suffered heavy damage, as the city was then under fire from American bombing. The restoration of the Gothic church quickly began again, giving it back its splendour, and it is once again visible from afar!
