FOUNTAIN WASHHOUSE
An opportunity to visit the shallow pool made of large stone slabs, surrounded by a covered gallery of cut stone.
Built in 1784 by Boullée, engineer of the Ponts et Chaussées, the washhouse has been restored and is worth a look. It is composed of a shallow basin made of large stone slabs and surrounded by a covered gallery made of massive columns of cut Caen stone. The square bases support an imposing wooden framework. Around the washhouse, one can notice strange carved stone creatures: a new little wonder in the city, which you should discover during a walk to discover the local heritage.
