The Milnes Bar is a pub and, like most pubs (or almost), it's also a restaurant. It boasts the best fish & chips in Edinburgh... The menu is classic, with traditional pies, burgers, sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, haggis, roast chicken, vegetarian dishes and side dishes of French fries and peas. Simple and effective!
Literary anecdote: Milnes Bar is nicknamed the "poets' pub". Indeed, in the 1950s and 1960s, it resounded with the fiery debates of two famous national poets: Hugh MacDiarmid and Norman MacCaig. The downstairs room was named The Little Kremlin in memory of these verbal jousts.

It was very busy on NYE but there are plenty of seats as they have a large downstairs area.
Additionally, with 2 bars it's easy to get served quickly as one is always busier than the other.
