It was a disappointment for us.Ambience was above average, service was average. As a Michelin starred restaurant, I had read that it would be one of the top three on the island, but it definitely doesn't deserve it.I don't remember any special taste in all the dishes except fish, I have tasted much more delicious menus in many ordinary restaurants. The salt content was high, the potato ball, bread and butter were ordinary. I found the prices high for this quality of food. Although the vast majority of googled reviews are close to perfect, I try to be objective and say that it is unfortunately not a restaurant that deserves these praises and money in terms of taste, ambiance and service.

We were visiting from Canada and my hubby and I heard about this restaurant and it being a Micheln star, so we went and it was amazing, Tom came to the table and chatted, I took a photo which I loved! Food was incredible. We bought a cook book, he autographed it for me. Today back in Canada we were cooking a prime rib roast and decided to make the Yorkshire recipe from the cook book it turned out amazing ! Can’t wait to try more recipes. Thank you Tom!!

The Kitchin in the United Kingdom is a culinary delight! Their Yuzu Curry is a fusion of flavors that tantalizes the taste buds. The presentation is as exquisite as the taste, making each meal a gourmet experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique dining adventure!????????????

The food was okay, but not impressive for the price. The atmosphere was nothing special, and the service was disappointing. The only dish worth recommending is the scallop, which tasted good. The bread, however, was better than expected, lol. Overall, just average.

We booked this restaurant for Easter dinner while we visited Edynburg.
The food was ok but not as good as would be expected, but the service was far too bad for a Michelin star restaurant . We ordered champagne and got it in the wine glasses as apparently the waiter said , they run out of champagne glasses !
So many mistakes with the right cutlery, serving us a dishes belongings to the next table etc .
After dining in Michelin star restaurant paying a bill (not small amount) you expect the staff to say “ Bye , thank you ! , unfortunately we left the restaurant unnoticed. Lots of mistake which shouldn’t be made in that kind of restaurant. We won’t recommend it to anyone else

My boyfriend took me there for my birthday last night and I had the most amazing night! The staff was amazing, full of knowledge and kindness. The food was just as amazing as the service. We went for the prestige tasting menu with wine pairing and we were astonished by everything. The wines were always a great surprise and really interesting to try before the food and paired with the associated course. Everything was very subtle and beautifully done. Thanks for making me discover this world, for all the emotions we went through and again, thanks for making my birthday night so incredible!

Michelin-starred gem by the Leith waterfront. Nature-to-plate philosophy and symphony of flavors. They manage to accommodate my gluten-free needs, very impressed. Recommended to go for wine pairing with surprise tasting menu.
Michelin-star magic awaits!

Feel blessed to have finally come to the mother ship after dining at Tom’s other two spectacular restaurants in Edinburgh. Our experience will be one that will live long in our memories. Starting from a very warm welcome on a rainy Leith day, the whole team were wonderful from start to finish. We decided to go for the 7 course surprise tasting menu & wine pairing. Not to spoil the surprise too much, I can say that each dish, sourcing Scottish ingredients, took us to another level. Highlights are hard to give as the entire meal was incredible however, the scallops, the pork cheeks, the halibut - wow! Was really nice to see Tom at the end of our meal for a chat - what a gem this place is, what a treat - come try it soon, you will be happy you did.

I used to eat here regularly 10 years ago. I came back for lunch (I don’t live in Leith anymore, so this was a treat when I came back for a few days) and was bowled over. Not by the food. The food is still good, like it was. But 10 years ago I used to eat for £28 for a 3 course lunch. Now it’s more than double that, for the exact same food. And it’s not ‘inflation’ because the same meal ten years ago, adjusted for inflation, would cost £37. Its Michelin establishments like this clubbing together and jacking their margins. It stinks, and I won’t eat here (or at another Michelin star eatery) again. There’s plenty of places that aren’t in Michelin that do much better value lunches.

First visit and not our last.

We did a taster menu which was excellent. A cascade of flavours throughout.

Look out for the lobster.

Wow! The Kitchin is an amazing experience - an unforgettable treat to the taste buds! Everything about it was superb and first-class. We had the paired wine tasting menu which I would highly recommend. Each course was beautifully presented and exceptionally delicious. The wines were delivered by the professional, well-informed sommelier and each of the seven courses was outstanding in both taste and presentation. The service was excellent from start to finish. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

All of the team were very welcoming and obviously communication between the team members is great as immediately after we mentioned a food allergy all the staff we interacted with were aware of it and mentioned it.
The set up of the tables meant that background noise was at a reasonable level for a busy restaurant and not distracting at all allowing easy conversation.
The food was outstanding and the wine pairing matched perfectly by our sommelier who was very knowledgeable about all the wines.
Our server, Aidan was very attentive and knowledgeable making us feel at ease and valued.
Tom Kitchin came out to speak to the diners and served one of my dishes which was definitely the highlight of an amazing evening.
Although it is an expensive restaurant in my opinion it was absolutely worth the cost for a special occasion.
