Leith's Michelin stars also include Martin Wishart and his eponymous restaurant. Here, the focus is on subtlety and finesse, sublimating every flavour from the four corners of Scotland, all with the claimed inspiration of French gastronomy. The result is, of course, marvellous, and the service impeccable. The white tablecloths and presentation are impeccable, and the decor is soft and simple.

We had the market option which was delicious. We accompanied the meal with a glass of red and the cheese course with a glass of tawney port.
The only thing to bring down the total scores was the plastic table decorations, they may last longer than real plants but they just don't cut the mustard in today's environmental conditions.
