Castle Rock has everything to please: a great location at the foot of the castle, a successful medieval decor, a festive and international atmosphere, impeccable cleanliness, billiard and beer pong tournaments and even free pub crawls every week to meet other travellers in the company of the staff. The establishment is regularly ranked among the best youth hostels in Europe. Dormitories and showers are comfortable and everyone is entitled to a small locker with key, two pillows and a personal light and socket.

Brilliant place to stay in Edinburgh! I enjoyed the location, people and the service. Hope you will meet some great people like I had and definitely try the events they organise each evening.

Beim Zimmer gab es leider zwei Punkte Abzug, da es auf unserem Zimmer kein Waschbecken gab und wir über mehrere Gänge zum Waschsaal & den Toiletten mussten.
Die Lage ist echt unschlagbar gut und gleiches gilt für den Preis. Ich würde sofort wieder hier eine Nacht verbringen. Das Ambiente ist unbeschreiblich schön. Meine absolute Empfehlung!

Lovely staff and cheerful athmosphere. Cleaned up premises and located in the heart of the city, just by the castle, the Royal Mile etc. Ready to come back❤️

I found the staff that work at the hostel to be hostile and intimidating. Staff sell drugs from within the hostel, some staff use the hostel as a place to live illegally in the UK; management-goons are untrustworthy, tyrannical liars
It's a shame the staff (not the owners) dampened my experience here other than that I would say that this castle truly rocks.
