This famous chain of European hostels is essentially established in Britain. The édimbourgeoise is just as festive as others and seduced by its location just opposite the train station. The value for money is excellent, with a complimentary continental breakfast, and there are two public bars that depend on the hotel on the ground floor. The common spaces are not very large, but they are well arranged and there is always the world to meet to have a drink.

Convenient place but crowded rooms, and showers which need renovation. The bung beds are 3 tiers, and I am so glad I got a top bunk, as I would have felt claustrophobic in the middle or the bottom, you only have space to lie down, no room to sit up. They have some curtains on every one of the bunks, which works for a 'closed-off', somewhat undisturbed sleep.

They have a locker room (2-2.5 pounds for 24 hours) with a small lounge area/ kitchen, but I would just recommend going out for drinks and food. Belushi's right in front of the hostel offers both and live music as well.

That being said, the staff was really helpful and fast in their service.

I was disappointed with this hostel.

There is no real common room, only the reception area which is always really crowded and it was difficult to find a seat. The so called “chill out area” is an absolute joke, it’s a locker room with no windows that smells like a mix of pee and weed, which makes it impossible to spend more than 2 minutes in that room. Also something to be aware of is that you have to pay to store your luggage, which I find a bit unfair on the backpackers.

There is no common kitchen, only a tiny fridge which was so packed and absolutely not sufficient for the amount of people staying there.

I stayed for three nights and during that time the fire alarm went off twice for no reason which was a bit annoying.

The cleanliness was okay, it wasn’t amazing but that’s kind of what you’d expect. There was so soap in our room the first day and also some small stains on my duvet…

To be fair, the location is amazing, the hostel could not be more central so that was really nice.

Super location right next to Waverley Station. Short walk into the old and new towns. Rooms are well looked after and expect typical hostel accommodation. Opposite Belushi's where breakfast is served and you can get 25% off food. Cafe in same building as the hostel which offers lovely coffee. Common room is small and very basic. Lockers available for £1.50/£2.50 for 24 hours.
