CASTLE OF PIROU
The castle of Pirou is known to be one of the oldest Norman castles
Known to be one of the oldest castles in Normandy, the castle of Pirou is a fortress built in the 12th century on the site of a Viking site. Registered in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 1968, it has high ramparts, a bakery, a wine press, a moat and a covered way: a place that takes the visitor back to the time of the Hundred Years' War. Many times besieged and restored in the 15th, 17th and 18th centuries, it houses the Pirou tapestry, made in the 20th century. A very beautiful place, magnificently restored.
