COLLEGIATA SANT'AMBROGIO
Collegiate church with six beautiful baroque altars in Varazze
Although the neo-Renaissance façade dates from 1914, the harmonious bell tower is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. Known colloquially as Campanin Russu (the red bell tower), at 30 meters it has become the dominant landmark of Varazze. The structure of the collegiate church dates back to the 14thcentury ; divided into three naves, it preserves six beautiful Baroque altars (18th century) in each of its chapels. Admire the paving of the forecourt, all in pebbles of different colors, commissioned in the 18th century by a family of local notables.
