CATTEDRALE DI NOSTRA SIGNORA DELL'ORTO
Cathedral with baroque architecture preserving an image of the Madonna dell'Orto.
The cathedral was built between 1613 and 1633, in an interesting Baroque style. It is said to have been built following an apparition of the Virgin Mary. The Corinthian columns in front of the entrance are inspired by the architecture of the Pantheon in Rome. An intervention in the 19th century significantly altered the structure of the building. Inside the cathedral is an image of the Madonna dell'Orto, which became an object of veneration in the city after the plague epidemic of 1493.
