Church considered the oldest place of worship in Levanto.
A sloping staircase leads from Piazza del Popolo, in the town center, to what remains today of the church of Santa Maria della Costa, often considered Levanto's oldest place of worship. According to some sources, it may have been built in the 12thcentury . The façade features a fine Carrara marble bas-relief bearing the arms of the Da Passano family, lords of Levanto, depicting a finely sculpted Saint George slaying the dragon.
