STATUE IN HONOR OF THE NAVY
Statue on the D-Day route in memory of Navy soldiers who fell during operations at Sainte-Marie-du-Mont.
It is the only monument on the route of the landing in memory of the Navy soldiers who fell during the operations, and the only one not located on American soil (it should be remembered that part of the territory was bequeathed to the Americans in gratitude). It represents a commander watching over his soldiers and, on its base, are inscribed the names of American ships that participated in Operation Overlord. The place is celebrated during commemorations.
