THE PUMP
From this old pump, hastily dressed men and women form a chain.
During the night of 5-6 June 1944, a villa burns down in the Houlgate Park (the current site of the Airborne Museum). The fire brigade struggled in vain against the fire. The tocsin calls the population to help. Soon, men and women, dressed in haste, make the chain from the old pump of the calf market. But from the sky and on the American side, we hold council in full flight: to whom do the golden helmets of the firemen belong? Enemies, allies, civilians? Shots and civilian victims are avoided thanks to the observation of the paratroopers who notice the absence of weapons.
