The Promenade des Remparts leads to a beautiful public garden with a view of the River Vire.
A natural promontory of schist cut by the valleys of the Torteron, Dollée and Vire, the rock controls this strategic meeting point of several roads and a navigable river. The Promenade des Remparts leads to the pretty public garden at the top of which you can contemplate the Vire. For an even more remarkable view, climb the Tour des Beaux Regards, which bears witness to the town’s fortified past. The Tour de la Poudrière, the only remaining vestige of the citadel, shows the beginnings of the thick wall that closed off the enclosure.
