RENAULT-CHÂTEAU FORT
Neo-Gothic mansion with interior patio and garden, and an unusual swimming pool in Îles Chausey
In 1922, carmaker Louis Renault undertook the reconstruction of the neglected 16th-century fortified castle. It had been built on the orders of Henri II to defend the islands from English raiders and pirates. Today, the house with its neo-Gothic openings features an interior patio and garden, as well as an unusual disused seawater pool overlooking Port-Homard beach. The industrialist who gave the château its name came here until the 1940s.
