CHÂTEAU DU HUREAU
In the troglodyte cellars on the hillside, the wines are patiently crafted. The 18-hectare estate produces mainly AOC saumur-champigny reds, such as Fevettes, aged for 24 months in oak barrels and made from vines planted in 1943, no less! But the quintessence of the château lies in the Lisagathe cuvée, made from the estate's two best plots. The wine is matured in wood and the result is simply superb! And if ever there was a place to discover the mellowness of coteaux-de-saumur, it's here, while there's still time..
