This church dates from the 14th and 15th centuries, a period of intense renewal after the Hundred Years’ War.

Situated on Place Vicq d’Azir, the building dates from the 14th and 15th centuries, a period of intense renewal in the aftermath of the Hundred Years’ War. Improvements in the 16th and 17th centuries completed this flamboyant Gothic-style collegiate church, which became "the most beautiful ornament in Valognes". The bombings of 1944 destroyed it almost entirely. Only the choir and the aisles remain today, restored by the chief architect of the Monuments Historiques Yves-Marie Froidevaux. A new spire was built, becoming an architectural focal point of Valognes.

Eglise Saint-Malo 50700 Valognes
L'Eglise Saint-Malo est une grande et très belle église en centre ville de Valognes. Les parties reconstruites après le bombardement de juin 1944 l'ont été de très belle manière. J'ai particulièrement apprécié les splendides vitraux, le retable surprenant ainsi que la statue en cuivre martelée de la Vierge de la Miséricorde. L'orgue est également à voir ainsi que la peinture murale de toute beauté se trouvant à son côté. Cette église mérite assurément la visite !
