GRANDVAL-CALIGNY HOTEL
A sober, well-kept hotel with a few refurbishments, famous for having welcomed Jules Barbey d’Aurevilly as a tenant.
This hotel, with its sober, meticulous architecture, was built around 1700, with some alterations in the mid-18th century. It is most famous for having welcomed Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly as a tenant from 1872 to 1887. It was here that he completed his collection of short stories "Les Diaboliques". Only the part between the courtyard and the garden is open to visitors. Here you can discover the rooms and formal garden that Barbey d'Aurevilly left in his memory.
