JACQUES-PRÉVERT HOUSE
House of the famous poet Jacques Prévert, located in the village of Omonville-la-Petite.
Enter the town of Omonville-la-Petite and park your car in the car park in front of the church. You have not yet arrived at the house of the famous poet Jacques Prévert but the visit starts here. Take a look at the cemetery and look at the flowered tombs, decorated with pebbles. It is there, in the peace and quiet, that Jacques Prévert, his wife and daughter rest. Take this street lined with fields. It will take you, after a ten-minute walk, to the writer’s corner of paradise. It was when he was filming with the actors of the Octobre company that he fell under the spell of Cap de la Hague. The man we know today as the author of the best lines of French cinema, but also a committed poet and master in the art of collage, found his crush in the 1970s. He acquires a discreet house with a garden in Le Val. The Words still resonate there... On the ground floor, contemplate the temporary exhibition in homage to the author and the great artists with whom he collaborated, then watch the film of his life. Upstairs, turn the chapters of Jacques Prévert’s life, from the studio to the bedrooms, and end your visit by going through the garden... Collages, works, drafts... Everything brings you back into the Prévert universe, and has done so for more than 20 years, via this beautiful house. On 11 April 1977, the poet died here: he lived 40 years in this superb house in The Hague, and his grave is located nearby. A magnificent visit, whether you are familiar with the name Prévert or not.
