Abbey nestled in a small cove, at the water's edge.

This abbey is nestled in a small cove on the water's edge. It's an important monastic complex protected by a 16th-century tower, and can only be reached by ferry from Camogli and Rapallo, or by a 2-hour hike. In the 8th century, the inaccessibility of the site and the presence of a spring made it an ideal location for the foundation of a church. In the 10th century, it was rebuilt as a Benedictine monastery. In the 16th century, it became the property of the Doria family. In 1983, they donated the entire complex to the Italian FAI fund.

Bellissima abbazia raggiungibile solo a piedi o via mare
