SERVIGNY CASTLE
Castle where the surrender of Cherbourg was signed in 1944 between General Collins and Karl-Wilhelm von Schlieben, converted into a guesthouse.
A superb building nestled in the greenery, it has had its moment in history as it was here that the surrender of Cherbourg was signed on 26 June 1944 between General Lawton Collins and the German Karl-Wilhelm von Schlieben. This crucial stage of the Second World War enabled the great port of Cherbourg to be put back into operation quickly, as it became the landing place for the equipment needed to reconquer Europe. Today, the Château de Servigny is a superb gîte, composed of several majestic buildings, with a swimming pool and tennis court.
